Some foods that are packaged to be cooked in the microwave will come out looking and tasting better than other foods might. There are packages that allow for steaming, crisping and even melting of cheeses and there are new bags that allow you to recreate the steaming features with your own recipes.

The microwave cooks food to high temperatures which can lead people to be convinced that they are thoroughly cooked while small hot pockets or cold spots can remain.

Reusing plastic ware that is not listed for microwave use can be dangerous because it can melt, release dangerous chemicals and can even catch on fire during the heating/cooking process.
In addition, you can use certain types of plastic wrap and plastic bags in the microwave; however, there are some types that are too thin to be used in the microwave at all. Never put anything in the microwave without a vent to allow steam to escape.
